Celebrating the Vital Contributions of Biomedical Technicians and Nurses in Healthcare

When it comes to their medical care, most people think first about which doctor can assist them with routine checkups, special medical conditions, surgeries or emergency care. Yes, no doubt doctors are vital to providing the highest quality of care. But let’s not forget the number of people working in essential support positions at hospitals and medical centers around the country.

It’s why we love to celebrate Healthcare Technology Management Week from May 19 to May 25. It’s an opportunity for everyone to pause and recognize the hardworking biomedical equipment technicians and clinical engineers who keep critical medical devices in top-notch condition.

Here at Sage Services, we work closely with biomedical teams helping them repair patient-monitoring devices and secure replacement cables and accessories.

These folks are typically working behind the scenes. They aren’t interacting with patients or taking blood pressure, and yet their work is so important. Healthcare teams couldn’t function without healthcare technology management professionals.

The Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI) organizes Healthcare Technology Management Week to bring awareness to this group of medical professionals.

AAMI  notes, “At a time of rapidly evolving healthcare technology, healthcare facilities must keep pace by providing quality, well-trained professionals who understand the complexity of medical equipment operation and applications.”

The Role of Biomedical Technicians

Biomedical technicians and clinical engineers are invaluable. They are maintaining the equipment used to care for, treat, and even save the lives of our loved ones. That’s a job worth celebrating!

Healthcare technology professionals research, recommend, install, inspect, and repair medical devices and other complicated medical systems.

They also advise and train others about the safe and effective use of medical devices. Their efforts directly contribute to controlling healthcare costs and improving patient safety.

They are involved in purchasing decisions and have extensive knowledge of which products are most suitable for the task at hand.

These team members are advocates for saving money and have an eye on budgets and how to do more with less.

We often think of biomedical technicians as the multi-tool of the hospital. They are eager to help the hospital run as smoothly as possible and will step up to help – even if it’s beyond their specific job duties.

We’re happy to support biomedical technicians and clinical engineers as much as possible. Here at Sage Services, we’re dedicated to helping healthcare professionals be more efficient with their time and budget. With our high-quality accessories, timely device repairs, and refurbished equipment, we can ensure healthcare technology management professionals excel.

Nurses Make a Difference

And when the tech team is at its best, the nursing staff is thriving as well. We would be remiss if we didn’t pause to honor the amazing nurses working in hospitals and healthcare centers.

Organized by the American Nurses Association, National Nurses Week is May 6-12 (ending on Florence Nightingale’s birthday). This year’s theme is “nurses make a difference” and isn’t that the truth!

We are grateful to the 4.7 million registered nurses and others in the nursing profession. It takes a special person to be a nurse. Thank you, nurses, for having a heart to serve!

This month, we salute our healthcare technology management professionals and our nurses! If you work with these special folks, be sure to give them a heartfelt thank you and maybe buy ‘em a good cup of coffee!
